How do hybrid cars work?

hybrid cars

I’ve never driven a hybrid before and I’m wondering, how does a hybrid car exactly word? Do I drive ti exactly as a normal car? Do I put gas in it? Do I put water in it? Whats maintenence like? it has a “ECVT transmission” –what does this mean? Ive heard hybrids turn off on traffic lights and dont sit idle?.. Does this mean I will have to start my engine over and over again, or have trouble at traffic lights?? Please give me all details!

  4. the article below should help answer your question.

  5. Who cares how they work – they just do. I have a Prius and I love it.

You put gas in it. (But since it gets great mileage, you’ll probably fill it about half as often as another car.)

They don’t turn off at traffic lights, they switch over to electric power and get very quiet (so it sounds like they’re shutting down – but they’re just conserving energy). Then when the light turns green, you step in the gas (no need to repower) and off you go.

Maintenance is like any other car – oil changes, tune ups. No biggie.

it works just like a gas powered car just with a battery…the Prius from toyota has a spicial thing in it that the battery part just helps out the gas powered part…yes you do put gas in them and they only help you out in citys and not like places where you drive fast and turning and winding roads and such

  7. I would like to thank gbcopy for showing all of us, in the most graphic of ways, exactly why women get ripped of by the automotive industry at a rate far exceeding that of men. A passing grade in auto shop should be a high school graduation requirement.
