We have had some problems with E85, it makes the motor run lean which means hot.
You can cause damage to you Cat and worse case Head gasket damage due to warping from the heat.
Your milage will drop by about half also.
I would not use it unless the car is built to run on it.

Yes you can,

However, Gasoline produces more power by volume than Ethanol. What that means is you have to use more Ethanol to go the same distance as you would on Gasoline. Basically your fuel economy will suffer, but depending on how cheap E85 is you may still save money.

If anyone tries to tell you that E85 is corrosive to your fuel system and it eats rubber, tell them they are thinking about METHANOL not ethanol.

The car should only run lean for however long it takes the ECU to readjust to the mixture. It could take several drives for the ECU to learn the proper AFR. And I seriously doubt that even running lean would cause damage to the headgasket. I have personally seen what happens to a catalytic convertor after 100,000 miles of use with Ethanol. It is cleaner and lasts longer becasue of the fact that Ethanol burns cleaner than Gasoline, essentially there is less for the cat to clean up.

I have a 1981 Celica GT, and it is even carburated. I have no issues with heat and I purposely run a little lean to conserve fuel. And considering the fact that Ethanol is around 104 octane, I dont need to worry about knock when running lean.

Also on average the mileage drops less than 30%. Which most of the time is offset by the price of Ethanol.
