  1. It can be done. Can it be come cheaply – NO. Can it be done so you will have good working car – probably not.

It is cheaper to sell your old car and buy a diesel truck.

The cost of conversion will be more than the value of your car.

    Good Luck…

P.S. Biodiesel is a hoax. OK not a real hoax. But you can’t buy it anywhere. You have to drive around town picking up donated used french fry oil and then convert them yourself.

  2. A lot of GM engines were converted to diesel during the gas shortages of the 1970′s.

The result was they had major mechanical problems. The materials used in gasoline engines are designed to have the fuel ignited by a spark. They aren’t durable enough to withstand compressing the diesel until it ignites.

It takes better grade components for a diesel engine.

But if you still want to try it, scrounge around the old junk yards, you probably will find a GM diesel conversion kit.

  3. forget about a conversion, cos you may never use the car again after the conversion, lol

  4. I think it will be hard, even if technically feasible, because of the need for a fuel injection unit, at high psi. Basically, the gasoline engine gives power by the quick ignition and explosion of the gasoline inside the chamber. The higher the octane level, the better. We have 95 octane gasoline available in the market. If you convert to vegetable oil/bio-diesel engine, that means your fuel has lower volatility, like diesel fuel, and thus, the engine has to compress that fuel at higher temperature, and at higher compression rate inside the cylinder to produce heat, ultimately burning the fuel. The fastest option, though not the least cost is to install readily available diesel engine, like Isuzu. Very reliable and powerful.

  5. NO! You can install a diesel engine, but you cant convert the engine to diesel fuel. Sell it and buy a diesel if thats what you want.
