we have some wind turbines by us, i cant see why alot of people are against them, i think they are a beautiful sight and would rather see them than a smoke belching power station
Yes, if it is grouped with other sources of alternative energy.
If a country went:
20% wind
10% geothermal
20% nuclear
30% solar
20% hydroelectric
There would be 100% of the energy needs with only radioactivity as a waste which could either be used to heat water, shot into space, thrown in a volcano or burried in an abandoned mine.

we have to be care full because if we do that then the entire island could take of and then land on France and then we cant escape the European union.
but know seriously we could but they don’t really pay out so well because they do take over five years to pay themselves off and Even if we do there is no determined amount of energy they will output
but instead of wind farms we should invest more into tidal energy converters there so much more logical and easy to establish when optimum power output can be achieved.

Wind is very inefficient (around 20%, half that of acoal power station), costly and very noisy if you live near them. They are unsightly as well.

Please avoid the implicit assumption that carbon based energy is a realistic long term, >10 years, solution. We are at peak oil now. Easy to mine UK coal is limited and has difficult to manage logistical and waste issues. Bio-mass/fuel would mean bringing set-asside land back into production with big environmental impact, and make domestic food more expensive (and after peak oil/climate change hits then other countries will be looking to their own needs rather than exporting to us)
