Basically if it is filtered and clean, it can be used in a diesel engine as is. The main problem would be its cloud point or the point at which if it gets too cold it will not flow properly.
You can run a diesel on melted butter if you can keep it in the liquid form!!
No bio diesel can run in a gasoline engine.
