They use gasoline and electricity to power the vehicle, sometimes both.
They consume less gasoline on a per mile basis, but require an entire electrical engine and battery system.
From an environmental stand point it, the individual who is driving it will use less gas, but one also have to consider the cost of the research and manufacturing and construction of the additional electrical components. It’s hard to actually factor in if there is any environmental benefits.
You’ve also got a battery pack that can act as a big environment pollutant at the end of the car’s life.
You also need expertise in repairing and maintaining the vehicle. Or pay a mechanic who has that knowledge.
The savings is to make us less dependent on foreign countries, at least oil companies…seems like most hybrids are still based on japanese technology.
Toyota pretty much sets the standard for hybrid technology, so u cant go wrong w/ a camry, prius, or highlander hybrid, and nissan is building a Altima hybrid with Toyota hybrid technoglogy
toyota, honda, chevy, ford… plus your fancy cars of Lexus-made by toyota, lincoln-by ford, cadilac-by chevy/ gmc… take your pic… they are all good…. EXPENSIVE but good, and well worth the $$ in the long end of saving on gas!!!
i own a shop and all the car manufacturers are making them, what you have to do is decide whether you want a Chevy or a ford or a dodge,or a foreign one.as for what they do for the environment they Emmit less pollutants in to the air than a regular car does, and this means cleaner air for everyone to breath ,in the future were going to need the o-2 ,so we need to start cleaning it up now,we may find our self starving for oxygen someday, but its a serious matter, when you think about it,we breath in without even thinking about it,but what if that was a hard job ,just getting clean air to breath, then we,d all be thinking how did we get like this, and were setting on the answer right now,so were going to have to change, air we cant live without, and that’s a fact, good luck hope this helps.
Let’s start a dialogue discussing the integrity of the Hybrid and Alternative Fuel Autombile marketplace in the U.S.A. In particular, I am interested in hearing stories from others who might share a similar sentiment with me with regard to AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY’s fraudulent marketing practices of the company’s CIVIC HYBRID CVT and other Electric and Alternative Fuel Vehicles.
