Electric and Hybrid cars will reduce the West’s dependence on Middle East oil. Can this really happen? And has anyone brought an electric/hybrid car just to reduce their own demand on Mid east oil?

yes it will be…
Highly doubtful. Most people quickly figure out that these systems add so much money to the initial cost of the vehicle that you need to drive them for too long to break even.
Some people only think about saving money at the gas pump and forget about the extra money you paid at the dealer for this car over a more conventional gasoline only car of similar size.
Then they don’t consider that the battery packs in these cars must be replaced from time to time which is not cheap. So you usually never break even.
Doubt it. Hybrid cars are a con, they cause far more environmental damage to produce than a regular car and owners don’t get any better mpg than they would from a Diesel.
Hybrids are STUPID….well somewhat. They have diesels in europe that get 70mpg with NO hybrid stuff so no batteries to replace.
Hybrids were created during the good time credit bubble.People now examine the total cost of a car not just fuel economy.Carmakers are about to get a frypan to the face from cheap cars made in India.
The London mayors Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson use global thinking because they want to appeal to global banks. They spend your tax money to buy a good reputation with their global friends.
National Public Radio is supported by the Bill Gates Foundation.NPR is public relations for Bill Gates’ global view to the point of absurdity. There are pot banging protests but I want frypans to the face.
Hybrids are a pointless exercise by car companies to make them look like they are trying to the eco-hippies. They cost a fortune to make, are heavy and a decent diesel is more economical.
The only people that buy them at the moment are the gullible and people trying to make the “LOOK I AM GREEN” statement.
They are already Mainstream.
Look at the number on the road today. The Prius is one of Toyota’s top selling Cars.
Now you get Hybrid SUV’s, Luxury Cars, and soon Sports Cars.
