I know there are some prototypes and some are already produced in Japan but how come there were not here first? Diesel has better mpg than petrol and though it would seem logal to produce diesel hybrid cars..Is there a technological problem or..?

I’ve heard that having Solar Cells installed on your roof can run you about 18,000, but you can get a 1% fixed loan to cover this. Is this true? Also, can you realistically power all your appliances, lighting, basically all your electrical needs with a system like this? Can you operate an electrical heating system as well? I have a test tomorrow and this question came in my mind because most of the books say it about solar energy but there are many who say it as light energy also. Even Wikipedia has it that the chlorophyll uses the light energy and I found no mention of solar energy in it.
Help please!!!
