When storms knock out our power, as happened for days recently in Texas, I wonder how people with cars that require AC get charged.

We own a 2004 regular Toyota Camry & love it. We need to buy another used car as we have 3 kids and we’re one car short. Any particular year that is an excellent model year for their hybrid car?
Any other used cars anyone can highly recommend. Want to spend around $10K-$12K, if possible.

I’m giving a presentation soon, and would like to include some data about hybrid cost effectiveness over time, due to the lowered dependence upon gasoline. Does anyone know of any good sources?

I have a few volkswagen solar panels, those that they use to keep the batteries charged.
I´m planing to use them in combination with a car battery and a small power inverter with a timer to pump water only a couple of minutes a day to water my bonsais,
I have the panels, the battery, the timer, the power inverter and the pump,
What else do I need to make it work?
A friend told me that I have to prevent the energy from going back or something to shut off the timer when the batteries are charging. Thanks!

attracting a lightning strike.
I don’t have a patio so I can’t put a generator out there to keep my electricity running during brown-outs, so I need something solar that can be kept inside, against the window, etc. All suggestions would be considered. My cousin said something about running something from my bathtub to the window but I thought he was joking.

When driving a Hybrid the electric motor is used at low speeds, then the gasoline engine kicks in for more power. Question is how does the gasoline engine turn on or is it always on?
now that I know how the gasoline engine turns on, it does not seem to have any warm up time, so you could be accelerating hard onto a freeway with cold thick oil. should I be worried about excessive wear?
